Harassment at Work
Harassment is any unwanted behaviour that affects an individual’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment. Harassment based on gender, sexual orientation, marital status, race, colour, nationality, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.
Harassment may include physical or verbal abuse, practical jokes, or any conduct that persists despite being unwelcome. Any such behaviour will be treated seriously and may lead to disciplinary action.
Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment is unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature which may include unwanted physical contact, sexual advances, propositions, pressure for sexual activity, or derogatory remarks related to gender. Such behaviour denies equal employment opportunity and is treated as a serious offence.
Racial Discrimination and Harassment
Racial harassment includes offensive jokes, names, verbal or physical abuse, or any detrimental treatment based on race or ethnicity. This policy covers all forms of communication, including electronic messages. Formal complaints will be investigated thoroughly, with potential suspension of the accused pending investigation. Protection from victimisation is guaranteed for complainants and witnesses.
Age Discrimination
Discrimination or harassment based on age is prohibited in recruitment, promotion, training, and other employment-related decisions. Exceptions may apply only in cases of genuine occupational requirements.
